When abortion was legalized, it was all with a woman's individual choice in mind. What the general public does not hear about are all the co-erced abortions that occur. In China, rural women who have more than one kid are forced to abort by officials, whether they are one month pregnant or nine months (and they literally drag the women kicking and screaming). Here in North America, boyfriends blackmail their girlfriends into aborting; and yes, parents force their kids to get abortions.
Does feminists stand up for their choice?
No.
Generations for Life recently blogged about the new issue of Seventeen Magazine that contains an article about a girl who was forced by her mother to get an abortion, even though the girl had every intention of keeping the baby.
I've heard this story enough from various sources to feel that this is actually quite commonplace.
Another typical case of forced abortion is when the mom's boyfriend rapes the mom's daughter. To shield the boyfriend from consequences, the girl is forced to get an abortion against her will.
This is the product of unrestricted legalized abortion in North America.
