"Best of" The Big Blue Wave Pro-Life Blogburst

I would like to thank all the bloggers who participated in the Big Blue Wave Pro-Life Blogburst.

This blogburst has undoubtedly sparked some interesting discussions, which has been the goal.

I was so busy organizing the blogburst on Sunday, I didn't really have time to read the message in depth.

So today, I thought I'd put forward some "best of" tidbits of the blogburst.

There are so many valid points and interesting facts that I couldn't possibly list them all in one post.

So I suspect that I will be doing this again very soon.

In his blog entry, Dr Roy talks about how the unborn child, even where there is a case of obvious child accuse, has no rights. He cites the example of Brenda Drummond, who in 1996 shot her fetus with a pellet gun. The baby was born alive but died a few days later. She was acquitted of murder on the grounds that the fetus has no rights. In other case, a glue addict known as "G" was allowed to be forceably confined by the Manitoba Superior Court and the Child Protection Services in order to protect her unborn children. Already she had had two unborn children born disabled. The Supreme Court of Canada eventually agreed with the Manitoba Court of Appeal in overturning this case.

In Family Matters Dianne talks about, among other things, her teen pregnancy centre, The Rose of Sharon which offers a range of services to young mothers.

In So-Con or Bust John Pacheco says that abortion is the result of Western society worshipping the god of despair. He urges Catholics to be testify of their faith and be distinctly Catholic, because it is through our witness that we will be able to conquer the Culture of Death.

Gideon at Contra|Diction! cuts to the chase. The debate is really about abortion is really about this question: what is an unborn child? I couldn't agree with him more.

Catholic Mum, quoting Pope John Paul the Great, says "The one eliminated is a human being at the very beginning of life. No one more absolutely innocent could be imagined. In no way could this human being ever be considered an aggressor, much less an unjust aggressor! He or she is weak, defenceless, even to the point of lacking that minimal form of defence consisting in the poignant power of a newborn baby's cries and tears."

That's it for today! Come back for more tidbits!
