Crunchy Cons

I've decided to post this link about Crunchy Cons-- crunchy conservatives-- for your perusal.

Me, I'm not very Crunchy Con. There are aspects of that philosophy I appreciate-- like a more human esthetic-- but I'm not really into the whole organic thing. I'm not that big on the environment, either.

What I like about this article is that it dispels a myth about pro-lifers-- they're all rich Republican types with nannies. Mind you, it does reinforce the idea of pro-lifers having lots of kids. But they tend to.

There's this idea that because pro-lifers are on the right side of the spectrum, they tend to be selfish and materialistic.

It's the materialistic mentality that makes the unborn a consumer item you can just ditch when you don't want-- a piece of garbage. And when you want a new one, you just "order" one and it'll come to you-- or that's the belief, anyway. They forget about pesky things like biological clocks, fertility, miscarriages and the like. Many people are so used to having everything on demand they imagine having children is like that as well.
