CPC MP introduces anti-child-porn bill

Ottawa - The Member for Glengarry–Prescott–Russell, Pierre Lemieux, tabled a Bill to amend the child pornography provisions of the Criminal Code. The current law provides that an accused may invoke educational or artistic grounds to justify the possession or distribution of pornography involving minors.

Mr. Lemieux, a committed advocate of families and children, says, “I have always promoted and defended families and children. It is important to close loopholes in our Criminal Code, loopholes that are exploited by people who are dangerous to our children.”

Mr. Lemieux’s bill would amend the Criminal Code so that educational and artistic purposes could no longer be used as grounds for defence against prosecution for child pornography.
