What a yellow blogger.
I've been following this "scandal" for the better part of several hours now.
The rumour began on DailyKos. A blogger named ArcXIX thought that Sarah Palin looked too thin to be pregnant in several pictures. And...in a Palin Family photo, Bristol, then age 16, had a little abdominal bump.
The blogger put two and two together, and a false rumour was born: Bristol Palin is Trig's real mother:
Well, Sarah, I'm calling you a liar. And not even a good one. Trig Paxson Van Palin is not your son. He is your grandson. The sooner you come forward with this revelation to the public, the better.
The blogosphere went wild with this rumour.
But lo and behold, a picture was found that showed the governor looking pregnant:
Another Daily Kos blogger had to admit to the error:
Unless someone has counter evidence, we can drop this crap now. Yes, there are still some interesting questions, (...) Nevertheless, until this photo is debunked, we look stupid pushing this rumor.
So to sum up: a "progressive" Daily Kos blogger starts a groundless rumour based on the fact that a woman did not look the way he thinks women should look when pregnant. He looks at a family photo of a daughter with an abdominal bump -- concludes the daughter is pregnant, even though she's supposed to be hiding her pregnancy because she and/or her mother is so full of shame. He casts aspersions on the mother and drags the daughter's name through the mud.
And they're criticizing Sarah Palin for her credibility issues and poor judgment.
At least some feminist commenters on DailyKos had the consistency to criticize this storyline. I wonder if the professional feminists will have anything to say about this.
I suspect the MSM will pick up this story to make bloggers look bad.
