Canada should aim for 100M in population, essay says

Canada should accelerate immigration rates to become a country of 100 million people and a proper world power instead of a nation content with "smallness" and little ambition to appreciably shape global affairs, says a rising star on public policy.

How about we just encourage people to have kids.

Without a decent birth rate, you can't rely on immigration to increase your population. You need a critical mass of immigrants to assimilate the population; otherwise your culture will become de-stabilized as people bring with them their own customs and beliefs, and impose them through their demographic weight.

Of course the most potent example of this is sharia, but even if you banned immigration from Muslim countries, we would still have problems.
