Cardinal Pell denounces Catholic Politicians Who Vote Contrary to the Faith

I think we have our next Pope. Says Cardinal Pell:

"But it's incongruous for somebody to be a Captain Catholic one minute, saying they're as good a Catholic as the Pope, then regularly voting against the established Christian traditions."

For years, I've waited for Catholic bishops to discipline Catholic politicians for their votes.

But you know what the real problem is?

Catholic bishops won't discipline their own wayward priests.

Like in this instance.

If bishops don't punish their own wayward priests, how can we expect them to discipline politicians? (And everybody else for that matter).

I think when priests are disciplined, it's because they made a little too much noise with their dissent, or they were too open in their sin.

If a priest keeps quiet and the bishop doesn't get any trouble from him, then there's a good chance nothing will happen.

Although we know that there are lots of priests who openly defy the Church and nothing happens to them.

And then they suddenly get all authoritarian on uppity Catholic laypeople who remind them of Catholic doctrine and their role as bishops.

And then they wonder why the Church has no credibility in this world.
