A moral issue raised by IVF

Barbara Kay:

The ethical problem, and one that is rarely discussed, is that it is now a given – it shouldn’t be – that women have a right to artificial aids to conception, even when the need for the aid was created voluntarily, by delaying conception to a point where the odds of conception were slim. Girls need to be educated in their teens about the risks of delayed conception. They should be taught that artificial treatments do not have a high success rate. They should also be assured that having babies when nature is their friend will not blight their career prospects indefinitely.
