On Social Conservatives and Bodily Autonomy

George Jonas:

I’m not a social conservative, but as far as I can tell, social conservatives don’t object to women controlling their own bodies. In fact, most say that if women controlled their own bodies a little better, they wouldn’t have to worry about controlling other people’s bodies so much — their unborn children’s, for a start.

This "right to control one's body" is sometimes a cover for the right to NOT control one's body.

Here's the thing: there is also a duty to control one's body.
