Cherie Blair Worries Stay-at-Hom Moms Turning their Backs on Feminism

Cherie Blair:

“Every woman needs to be self-sufficient and in that way you really don’t have a choice - for your own satisfaction,” Blair told Fortune magazine’s Most Powerful Women event held at Claridge’s in London last night, according to The Telegraph. “You hear these yummy mummies talk about being the best possible mother and they put all their effort into their children.”

I don`t know anyone who puts all their effort into their children.

But some women do feel fulfilled focusing on children.

More power to them!

Why should teachers and childcare workers be more invested in other people's kids than their own?

Adding that women who decide to get married to rich men and “retire” at home are unfulfilled and “dangerous,” Blair said, “you think how can they even imagine that is the way to fulfil yourself, how dangerous it is.”

I'm virtually certain there are millions of women around the world who think that marrying a rich guy and "retiring" (!) at home sounds extremely fulfilling. More fulfilling than working the assembly line or answering the phone, that's for sure.

Pretty rich coming from a woman who married a rich guy.
