I think it's a double-edged sword.
Yes, it might save babies who might have otherwise been aborted because the mother knows the baby is her husband's.
However, if the baby turns out to be the rapist's, he may be aborted. The ambiguity could have saved him. She might have carried him just in case it was her husband's.
