Because if you reject Jesus, i.e. God's love, you will go to hell
That's the negative version.
The positive is that faith leads to joy and our ultimate end.
You can bang your head around trying to figure it all for yourself.
Or you can accept God and know the Truth.
You still need Jesus one way or the other. Nobody goes to heaven without him.
This is not news to educated Catholics.
