The non-sense has to stop.
Kids of a certain age are allowed to be outside unsupervised as long as they're behaving, whether it's in one's front yard, or on a neighbourhood street.
I won't say which age, because it's a judgement call, but let's say old enough to be aware of danger and avoid it.
A kid alone on a street should not inspire alarm.
