One tidbit I did not know:
The Soviets allowed abortion to be legal, but throughout the decades, they tried to restrict abortion. Women had to get a certificate in order to obtain one. This led to the creation of an underground (and thus illegal) abortion industry so that women could easily get an abortion without having to jump through the hoops.
The Russians have been trying to "discourage" abortion for years.
Ultimately what is needed is a culture of fetal rights.
