Do I dare hope that a politician will finally be disciplined for supporting abortion and taking communion?
I'm glad he will at least have a meeting.
If that's all that comes of it: whoopteedoo. A meeting. It's like going to the principal's office when you're in high school. And then getting sent back to class.
I don't have high expectations. We didn't even know Giuliani wasn't supposed to go to Communion. What's the good of imposing these restrictions if the public doesn't know about them? How does that diminish the public scandal? The whole point of barring pro-aborts from Communion is not only to save the pol's soul, but also to communicate to the faithful the seriousness of the sin.
Archbishops should make these deals known to the faithful.
