As for Blair Longley, the leader of the Marijuana Party, he's less interested in promoting the benefits of smoking pot than raging about the tax rules which benefit the large parties over smaller concerns. Funds are also a worry -- an estimated one third of the candidates and organizers his party fielded last election have had to spend money being hauled through the courts fighting various charges.

"We can barely afford our website," Longley explains.

Asked what he does for a living, besides being the leader of a federal political party, the 58-year-old Montreal man answers: "I don't do anything.

"I was hoping this would pay (the bills) ... now I'm stranded."
