Slow Code: Half-hearted medical treatment

I can see both side of this issue.

Honesty must be part of the equation.

People whose loved ones are dying are owed the truth about the patient's condition and the treatment administered.

Doctors should not be made to offer futile treatment.

But I think if we had more choice in healthcare, instead of a one-size tax-subsidized system, the problem might be alleviated.

A private institution can operate on the principal: we will spare no effort to save the patient.

And the patient's family can pay for it.

But ultimately, this revelation is another step towards euthanasia:

Patients are being given futile treatment! Let them die to free hospital beds!
