VIDEO: Why Modern Art is So Bad (Prager U)



I think the video doesn't go far enough in its exploration of where it all began. Photography and philosophical relativism and modernism had a huge impact. When photography became widespread, artists began to wonder: what's the point of painting objects as they are in reality when photography does the same thing?

And with relativism and modernism, standards became entirely subjective. Objectivity completely lost any currency.

My personal belief about art is that any piece should be appreciable to anyone with a high school education. You shouldn't need to be indoctrinated to any kind of artistic "ism" to be able to enjoy it, at least at its most representational level.
